“Glow Girls is my favourite extracurricular because I bond with the other Glow Girls and it equipped me with great tools.”

Let’s face it.

We aren’t living in an easy world. Between current events, social media, and the regular pressures of teenage life, our children’s well-being has taken a toll. Body image pressures have increased, and impacted our girls 100% over the last 5 years. With the increase in social media use, and comparison pressures, wee need to get our girls connected to their bodies, creating an undeniable self-love and self-acceptance.

As a parent, you see these challenges and stresses and your deepest, most heart-felt goal is to help your daughter reconnect with her true self.

We can help.

Our program provides weekly local diverse role models to teach, share and impact your child’s view of the world.

This program is for your child if:

  • You know change is ahead. You want your daughter to hold on to her core values and inner compass as she grows into teenagehood.

  • You see your child spending too much time on social media and want to protect her confidence and body image.

  • You worry about your child’s worry. She stresses about school, about getting good grades or doing well in sports and you want to support her.

  • You want her to feel confident in her body, to keep agency over herself so she can set boundaries and speak up about what she needs and wants.

  • You see her fretting too much about how she looks and what she wears. You want her to know there’s more than her outer appearance.

  • You don’t want her to change or limit herself to meet society’s expectations of how girls should look or be.

  • You remember her 5-year-old self. The one who ran in the park, laughed on the swing, and danced in the backyard. You want to help her reconnect or stay connected to the strength, confidence, and resilience that already lies within.

We want that too.

We designed Glow Girls specifically to help meet the developmental needs of girls in a way that supports their increased confidence and positive body image and courage through movement, mindfulness and motion.

You’re ready to support your child in increasing healthy habits and behaviors that they can draw upon at anytime.

We can help you get there.

“There are times when I am upset at people at school and now I move, breathe and I calm down.”

Four Pillars

  • ACTION

Overcoming low confidence is all about learning to take imperfect action consistently. We encourage and support girls towards healthy risk-taking, speaking up, and self-expression - all foundational tools needed so they can bring forth their most creative and inspired ideas.

  • MINDSET

Your thoughts can either support you or hinder you. We teach girls mindfulness practices to adopt a mindset that supports their wellbeing including growth-mindset, self-compassion, stress resilience, and meditation. it is through theses practices they will learn self-trust and be able to tap into their own internal voice.

  • SELF-AWARENESS

Confidence comes from knowing who you are and what you believe in. Growing confident girls means acknowledging that we live in an imperfect world. Social media and diet culture all work against our daughters’ ability to grow confidence. We help girls develop an awareness of these cultural influences so they can make choices about what to believe and what to act on.

  • MOVEMENT

Though movement we can connect to our bodies. Our nervous systems need to move, shake, breath and release in order to regulate. We use yoga, strength training, fitness, dance and more to help the girls connect to and accept their bodies. With these different modalities the girls will be exposed to different styles of healthy movement practices so they can decide the right fit for them.

  • In Grade 6, 36% of girls say they are self-confident, but by Grade 10 this has plummeted to only 14%.

  • Canadian girls are 15 times more likely to be hospitalized for an eating disorder than males.

  • Girls are half as likely as boys to pursue careers in STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering, and math).

If you’re finding yourself unsure about how to support your child’s ability to thrive you aren’t alone. Let’s figure this out together.

Words we’ve heard

"When I play tennis and I have to play a match, I use the breathing exercises I learned to keep me calm and concentrate."

“It helps me sleep better.”

“It’s a space where I can be myself.”

“I learned to be more calm and centered and confident.”
